Today, I feel like giving up. I'm struggling with a lot of things in my personal life. Mentally and Emotionally, I'm hurt. I don't feel like hitting the gym, I don't feel like writing and I don't feel like working.

At some point in life, everyone experiences the feeling of wanting to give up. It can be due to various reasons like failures, disappointments, setbacks, or simply feeling overwhelmed.

However, giving up should never be an option as it can lead to regrets and missed opportunities. I remember reading one of my favourite books, Grit by Angela Duckworth which explores the concept of grit and how it is crucial to achieving success.

Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint. - Grit by Angela Duckworth

I could use a little grit today. Here's what I tell myself whenever I lose motivation and feel like giving up.

Reframe your mindset

When you feel like giving up, it's easy to fall into a negative mindset. However, changing your mindset can make all the difference. Reframe your thoughts by focusing on the positives, like the lessons you've learned, the progress you've made, and the potential for growth. Shifting your mindset can turn a negative experience into a positive one.

Embrace challenges

I view challenges as opportunities for growth and development. Embracing challenges means seeing them as opportunities to learn and improve rather than as obstacles to be avoided. When we view challenges as opportunities for growth and development, we are more likely to learn from them.

We begin to see failures and setbacks as valuable learning experiences, rather than as a reflection of our abilities. By embracing challenges, we are also more willing to take risks, which can lead to new opportunities and experiences that we may not have encountered otherwise.

Viewing challenges as opportunities is a powerful mindset shift that can transform how we approach obstacles. We become more resilient, adaptable, and better equipped to handle whatever life throws our way. So, the next time you face a challenge, try to embrace it and view it as an opportunity for growth and development. You may be surprised by the positive changes it brings to your life.

Fall seven times, stand up eight

"Fall seven times, stand up eight" is a Japanese proverb I live by daily. It encapsulates the spirit of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. It's a powerful reminder that success is not about avoiding failure but about how we respond to it.

In life, we are bound to encounter setbacks and failures. These moments can be disheartening and demotivating, making it easy to give up and abandon our goals. However, the key to success lies in our ability to pick ourselves up after each setback and keep moving forward.

I encourage you to develop the resilience and determination to keep going despite setbacks. Even when you fall, never give up but stand up and try again. Each time you fall, learn from your mistakes and get back up stronger and more determined than ever before.

The satisfaction of producing good work

Most people want success but few are willing to grind for it. Most people want the gold, but few are willing to fight for it. It's not easy to go through a season of hardship and pain, but the sense of pride and satisfaction that comes with doing something well despite going through a down season is a lasting feeling that we will never regret.

When we put in the effort to produce high-quality work, we experience a sense of pride and accomplishment that lasts long after the task is complete. This feeling of satisfaction is not something that can be taken away or undone, and it serves as a testament to our abilities and dedication.

Whenever I feel like giving up, I think of my team and the people around me. I understand that producing good work is key to team motivation as well. It can contribute to our reputation and build trust and respect from those around us. It can also inspire others to do their best work, leading to a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

In conclusion, feeling like giving up is a common experience, but it doesn't have to define your life. Remember, setbacks and failures are a part of the journey, but it's how you handle them that will determine your success.
