Stress is something that cannot be avoided. There will always be something that stresses us out, whether it is an overload of work at the office or high expectations at school. While stress is an inevitable part of our lives, we have control over how we respond to it. Here are some practical tips to help you recover from stress and deal with it more constructively.

1) Take small breaks during the day

Spend some time meditating, reading a short article, or eating a healthy snack. Never underestimate the power of ten-minute breaks! They can help you improve your concentration, mood, and energy levels throughout the day.

2) Make exercise a priority

Passive activities such as watching TV or listening to music are enjoyable but not primarily beneficial to recovery. Exercising is a more effective way to recover after a stressful day at work or school. Try a quick workout at the gym, go for a run, or do some yoga!

3) Psychologically detach yourself from work

Make time after work to rest and relax. Avoid anything that prevents your mind and body from relaxing. Turn off your laptop or phone temporarily if they prompt you to work during your rest days.

4) Create a recovery-friendly environment

Consider getting out in nature! Take a walk in the park or, if you're feeling more adventurous, go trekking/hiking in the woods. Adding a little natural light or potted plants to your home or office can also benefit your overall health.
